About Me
What to Consider When You Remodel a Hotel

Remodeling a hotel is a challenging but extremely fun job. Hi, my name is Lana, and when I was a kid, my parents owned hotels. I used to help my mum pick out duvet covers, curtains and other things for the rooms. Now, I work in the design industry, but unfortunately, hotels are out of my purview. Instead, I work on small homes. I love my work but also wanted to creatively engage with the concept of hotel design. To give myself that outlet, I decided to create this blog. It has a range of unique tips on remodeling hotels as well as other spaces. Please, explore and enjoy.

What Do You Need to Consider When Modifying Your Home for Aged Care?

The majority of seniors have a plan to age in their home, which is very possible because there are modifications that can be done. By doing this, you make your home a possible place for aging. These modifications are an active approach to increasing the safety level in your home, and they also add convenience. Even if there are costs related to having aged care in your home, a lot of adults are happy to handle the expenses to fulfil their wish.

Widen the Doorways

If you are considering having aged care in your home, you need to have mobility aids like a walker and wheelchair, so you can easily navigate in your home. This is why it is necessary to widen doorways when you are going to have home modifications for aged care. The cost of widening doorways would greatly vary depending on where the electrical switches and outlets are.

Grab Bars

Installation of grab bars in areas that are high-risk such as bedrooms and bathrooms give additional support to anyone who has mobility issues. You will have additional support and prevention from fall injuries and slipping. The grab bars have to be installed near the toilet, shower and bathtub because these are slippery surfaces when wet. You might want to have grab bars installed next to your bed so you can safely get in and out of it. This is one of the most important things if you want to have aged care in your home.

Electric Stair Lift

Aged care in your home would require an electric stair lift primarily because of safety if it is more than one level. This is especially useful if you are already debilitated by muscle atrophy or arthritis, and no one is always there to assist you up and down the stairs. There are times when elderly people have a fear of falling down when they are alone at home, and no one will hear them. The electric stair lift gives a sense of security when you need to go to another floor.

Modify Your Flooring

If you have an old and shaggy carpet, you should consider replacing it with a shorter-nap carpet. You will have a lesser tendency to trip if the carpeting has shorter naps, and this is suitable if you use a walker or wheelchair.

Aged care in your home requires these modifications if you want to make the most out of your senior years.
